3is project at the Delegation of the European Union to the African Union

On May 20, 2024, a pivotal discussion took place between Marilena Maragkou, Project Coordinator for Impact, Communication & Dissemination, Konstantinos Maragkos, Communications Specialist for Impact, Communication & Dissemination, members of the 3is Consortium and John Villiers, the Programme and Policy Officer of the Delegation of the European Union to the African Union. The focus of the conversation was the transformative 3is: Impactful, Inclusive, Integrated Higher Education in Eastern Africa project, a key initiative under the AU-EU partnership.

The discussion emphasized the Consortium’s aim to contribute to a more inclusive, impactful and regionally integrated higher education development in the Eastern African neighboring countries of Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya, and in particular in the universities from these countries that participate in the project. John Villiers discussed the project’s critical role in transforming higher education in Eastern Africa, highlighting its impact on enhancing educational accessibility and quality.

The commitment of both parties to continuing the development and implementation of initiatives that drive significant educational and social impact was evident. This collaboration marks a significant step towards strengthening the ties between Africa and Europe through initiatives that strengthen Higher Education.
