Workshop on A more integrated Higher Education system in the Region
From May 26 to 29, 2025, the 3is project’s visit to Garissa, Kenya, brought together experts for a series of impactful discussions and collaborative sessions, focusing on rethinking quality and integration in higher education. Through exchanges on global standards of quality assurance and the potential of micro-credentials, the project underscored the importance of accessible, skills-based pathways that can respond to local contexts and unlock new opportunities for learners in remote areas.
Hosted by our partners in Garissa University, participants explored the African perspective on these innovative educational practices, examining how universities can tailor solutions to meet the unique socio-economic and cultural realities of their regions. These conversations provided a platform for universities in Somalia, Ethiopia, and Kenya to share their experiences and challenges while building strategies for more inclusive and impactful institutional growth.
The visit to Garissa reinforced the value of regional and international partnerships, showing that sustainable change requires not only policies and plans but also authentic collaboration and mutual learning.
